Biography:

Martin was born in Brickersville, Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania to Johan Jacob Hage and Friederica Magdalena. Martin married Margaretha Baumann on 4-15-1760 and had no reported children before her death in 1764, and then he married Maria Elizabetha Beamesderfer on 06-28-1768 at the Brickersville Evangelistical Lutheran Church, Martin was the son of Johan Jacob, who emigrated from Switzerland before 1727 for religious persecution. 

Martin's Revolutionary record: He signed a pledge of allegiance in the Warwick Township and promised to provide his own rifle or musket in good working order, 
ball and power, supplies, and to meet one a month. Part of the agreement was a fine for cursing of 1 shilling for the first time, 3 shilling for the second occurrence, and to be removed from the militia on the third occurrence. Martin was reported in Captain 
Peter Grupp Company of the Warwick Township, Lancaster Co, PA militia in 1775.

At the end of war Martin, his wife Elizabeth, and their children, John, Jacob, Margaretha, George, Henry, Elizabeth, Michael, and Catherine went to the Washington Co, Virginia.
