Biography:

Rotheus Latham was b., within Plymouth County, Massachusetts during approximately 1726; apart of Olde Bridgewater, as the "East Parish" formed 1723, it officially separated from Bridgewater and incorporated on 14 Jun 1823. Before, age 27, Rotheus had re-settled to Hyde County, NC from MA Colony and joined Elizabeth, his wife in the Holy State of Matrimony. Hyde Co., formed 1705, as Wickham Precinct, in Bath County; in 1739 Bath Co., abolished, and Hyde Co., formed. Revolutionary War service as a Col. of Whig Patriot (NC) Militia; and, one of 83 delegates voting (12 Apr 1776) unanimously at North Carolina's Fourth Provincial Congress, meeting at Halifax to authorize its delegates to attend the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia to vote for independence from Great Britain; sources, "Before They Were Heroes at Kings' Mountain," by Randell Jones, pgs 119-20; also, NSSAR # 168117 approved on Nov 13, 2006
